New Delhi Television Ltd. (NDTV), the New Delhi, India based broadcaster that produces two 24 hour news channels, "NDTV 24x7" and "NDTV-India," launched the world's first digital satellite news gathering network (DSNG) based entirely on MPEG-4 encoding using Envivio systems in 2003. In 2006, the broadcaster selected the 4Caster™ B3 encoding system for its fleet of news gathering vehicles.
"We've recently equipped our entire fleet of news gathering vehicles to the new 4Caster B3. We've been an Envivio customer since 2003 when we launched the world's first digital satellite news gathering network based entirely on MPEG-4 encoding," said Rahul S. Deshpande, Chief Technology Officer at New Delhi Television Ltd.
"We've always been impressed with the quality of the Envivio encoders and the new B3 does not disappoint at all. The quality and features of this encoder are simply outstanding," commented Dinesh Singh, Deputy Chief Engineer at New Delhi Television Ltd.
The NDTV news gathering network is based around Envivio 4Caster full D1 resolution and full frame rate MPEG-4 encoders and 4View™ MPEG-4 professional decoders. NDTV chose the Envivio real-time solution for its ability to provide excellent picture quality at low bit-rates and at low latencies. NDTV has the largest fleet of DSNG vans in India.
