Sales Engineer - Americas
Location: South San Francisco
The successful candidate will take responsibility for pre-sales technical activities in support of the sales team in the America’s. As an experienced engineer, the candidate will be responsible for product sales demonstrations, solution design assistance, RFP/RFI response, technical training and an escalations advocacy role for customers and partners for technical issues to drive resolution and assure customer satisfaction objectives are achieved.
The successful candidate is a self starter, working under minimal guidance and is quick in identifying and prioritizing the level of the customer requests. This engineer needs to form a strong sales team with the Sales Managers in the territory to achieve assigned revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather market and customer requirements based on ongoing customer visits
- Create customer proposals (including RFP/RFI responses)
- Giving formal presentations and product demonstrations to potential customers
- Recommending products, technical architecture, and operational best practices
- Lead and manage product trials including defining success criteria that lead to product wins
- Perform competitive analysis and develop competitive positioning
- Support marketing activities at tradeshows
Requirements
- BS in computer science or engineering
- 5+ years with technical experience in the cable and/or telecom industries in North America
- Knowledgeable in major technical disciplines necessary for the end-to-end system design, analysis, integration, and testing of various digital video broadcast and delivery systems
- Strong verbal and written communications skills with an ability to navigate and communicate to engineers up to Senior VPs
- Deep understanding of MPEG-2, MPEG-4 H.264/AVC software compression and MBR streaming video technologies including HLS, FMP4, and RTMP
- Very familiar with IP network switching and routing protocols
- Understanding of Internet protocols such as FTP, MFTP, HTTP (XML, HTML), and SSH
- Familiar with Mobile Television streaming standards
- Experience in a multicultural environment is a plus
- Ability to travel 50-75%
