Envivio Selected to Provide Content Encoding for NextWave Wireless’ MXtv™ Mobile TV Platform Demo at CTIA
4Caster M2 Encoders Deliver High Quality Video and Audio for New WiMAX-Based Broadcast Solution
South San Francisco, CA – April 2, 2008 – Envivio Inc., the leading technology provider of IP video convergence encoding solutions from mobile to HD, today announced that its 4Caster M2 mobile TV encoders were selected for demonstration purposes by NextWave Wireless to showcase its new MXtv™ WiMAX-based broadcast platform for mobile TV and advertising. The demonstration at CTIA 2008 uses 4Caster M2 encoders to provide the high quality, low bit rate content that enables MXtv to deliver up to 45 high-quality mobile TV channels and personalized advertising to a variety of non-cellular end user devices within a standard 10 MHz WiMAX channel profile.
NextWave’s MXtv is a breakthrough mobile multicast and broadcast technology that enables WiMAX operators to deliver a broad range of rich and personalized multimedia services including mobile TV, interactive media services, and digital audio without having to invest in new spectrum or additional radio access network equipment.
Envivio encoders are helping make this demonstration possible by delivering high quality video and audio at a low bit rate, thereby enabling a channel of content to fit within a small fraction of the spectrum typically available to an operator. Each Envivio M2 encoder also outputs content formatted to meet the parameters of several devices simultaneously, enabling NextWave to effectively distribute to the full range of consumer devices served by operators.
