The ISDB-Tb standard has been selected by Brazil and a growing number of countries in South America to address digital TV broadcast on terrestrial networks.

ISDB-Tb, the Brazilian form of ISDB-T, references the H.264 standard for video encoding with specific settings that guarantee the best signal quality and interoperability with reception devices. High Definition TV sets and mobile handsets are the main targets for this application.
