Global Accelerator Announces Funding of Envivio

San Francisco, CA (September 1, 2000) — Global Accelerator LLC (GAä) today announced the funding of Envivio.com, Inc., a leading developer of MPEG-4 interactive streaming solutions for broadcasters. Envivio, launched in early August at the prestigious "Herring on Hollywood" conference, presented the first end to end solution for producing MPEG-4 broadcasts, merging the audiovisual content with interactivity of the Internet in the accepted standard for wide area broadcasting in the 21st century.

In addition to receiving seed capital to build its business, Envivio will have access to GA's intellectual and operational resources, in a variety of critical functions, that GA offers growing startups through its consulting services division.

With Envivio's end-to-end solution, content providers can create innovative interactive features, merge with traditional AV content, stream, and offer interactive content in a secure and standardized format, allowing end-users to personalize and participate in immersive interactive experiences. For example, Envivio will allow users to make purchases directly from a streaming video advertisement, participate in a live game show, or obtain additional information related to sports or news broadcasts. The standards-based interactive technology can reside above all existing media clients, set-top boxes, and mobile video devices to attain maximum distribution.

"We are very excited to be partnering with Global Accelerator," said Shawn Ambwani, Vice President, Business Development and Co-Founder. "This was the kind of unique relationship we were looking for. We can get the functional, hands-on support as we need it, the access to capital to grow and the freedom to make our vision and technology a reality."

Envivio's technology is based on MPEG-4, the widely acclaimed International Organization for Standardization (ISO) multimedia standard. Spun off from France Telecom, Envivio has over three years of experience in MPEG-4 engineering, several key MPEG-4 patents and a serious lead in developing solutions for the broadcast community.

"Envivio is exactly the kind of company we look for to invest in," said Robert Graham, Senior Managing Director at GA. "We are always seeking new ideas and potential breakthroughs and we have a tremendous amount of confidence Envivio's technology. We believe it will change the future of marketing and advertising for broadcasting, on the Internet or in any other broadband environment."

GA offers a wealth of expertise and experience in nurturing the growth of young companies in digital media, broadband and B2B e-commerce. GA offers seed capital through its $75 million venture fund, operational support through its consulting practice and space to early-stage companies. GA helps entrepreneurs and technologists stay focused on product innovation and market development by providing access to capital and timely operational and intellectual support.

Global Accelerator currently employs over 50 people in New York, San Jose, Los Angeles, Boston and Dublin with expansion planned this year for Japan and other European locations.
