Envivio to Announce MPEG-4 Product Suite at NAB 2001, April 22, 2001

Envivio's MPEG-4 suite to feature end-to-end authoring, servers and client software

Brisbane, California, Date: March 14, 2001 — Envivio.com, Inc. announced today that it will debut its MPEG-4 streaming multimedia application suite at NAB 2001, booth #e2950, (ETopia section, lower floor) Sands Exhibition Center, Las Vegas, Nevada. The exhibition is open April 22 through April 26th. Full demonstrations will be by appointment only and may be made with any Envivio office. Contact information is available at the Envivio website at www.envivio.com or by sending an email to nab2001@envivio.com.

MPEG-4 is the next generation standard, widely acclaimed by broadcast and communications experts as the benchmark for 21st Century ip-network-based broadcasting. Broadcasters, content developers and other post production organizations can author rich media scenes with audio, video, text, graphics and viewer interactivity, all within an orderly object oriented environment. Once authored, the media can be distributed without further modification to any MPEG-4 capable device such as set top boxes, PCs, PDAs and other consumer information devices.

This announcement is important to Envivio's target market of major broadcasters, who require robust digital rights management before they are willing to release to their content on diverse broadcast networks. Envivio's end-to-end MPEG-4 solution will:

be the first fully standards-based solution for interactive AV streaming and DRM;

increase broadcast revenues through new interactive programming and enhanced advertising value;

reduce post-production costs through simplified encoding requirements and streaming in a standardized format to a range of different viewer appliances with the opportunity for business rules based on the usage or appliance;

permit broadcasters to provide track media usage and user micro-payments in order to compensate content licensors;

allow for multiple media objects of various types (3D, 2D, text, video, audio) to be controlled separately;

enable MPEG-4 content security and control over the use of their content via support for standardized MPEG-4 IPMP (Intellectual Property Management Protocol) APIs.

"We have been impressed with the extent and passionate demand for MPEG-4 applications in the broadcast community" said Alexander Hoag, COO and GM North America for Envivio. "While operating in a confidential, development-intensive mode, we have been sought out by some of the leaders in broadcasting and broadcast technologies. At NAB, we intend to announce deployment agreements as well as a range of partnerships with other leaders in broadcast solutions. We think NAB is going to be very exciting for organizations that want to implement MPEG-4 solution in 2001
