Envivio Delivers Television Industry's First MPEG-4 Solution On SeaChange VOD System

Envivio and SeaChange Collaborate to Enable Video-on-Demand with MPEG-4 Content

South San Francisco, Calif., April 8, 2002 — Raising the bar for video quality in video-on-demand (VOD) in IP environments, Envivio today announced that it has integrated its industry-leading MPEG-4 Envivio Streaming Server with SeaChange International, Inc.'s VOD system, the first of its kind available to the television industry.

Envivio Streaming Server provides the capability to stream ISMA and ISO MPEG-4 efficiently through Internet, Intranet, and Broadcast networks with advanced capabilities to ensure optimized presentation of audio/video/ and mixed media . The Streaming Server is one component of Envivio's complete suite of end-to-end software products to create, stream, and view MPEG-4 content. This includes real-time and off-line encoding software as well as EnvivioTV, the most advanced and widely downloaded MPEG-4 player in the world.

"We are proud to be integrated with an industry leader such as SeaChange to provide complete solutions to customers," stated Shawn AMBWANI, VP Business Development for Envivio. "We can now provide a reliable, scalable, and robust solution to network operators, the industries most demanding customers."

"A turnkey solution leveraging SeaChange's uniquely scalable and reliable video server platform with Envivio's Streaming Server effectively brings MPEG-4 into the service of VOD," said Yvette Gordon-Kanouff, corporate vice president of strategic planning, SeaChange International. "The combined solution is focused on using less bandwidth to deliver media while maintaining high quality. This enables operators to save bandwidth while providing the same experience and increase revenue through interactivity and personalization."

Television operators worldwide have chosen and deployed ITV Systems to accelerate the business of delivering advanced applications of personal television such as on-demand movies and subscription video-on-demand to consumers. SeaChange's systems -- video server technology and integrated automation and propagation support -- provide the most economical content storage and video stream density, enabling optimal investment returns for service providers.
