Envivio introduces MPEG-4 Plug-in to the Microsoft® Windows® Media Player™

The world's first demonstration of MPEG-4 in Apple® QuickTime™, RealNetworks®' RealOne™, and Microsoft® Windows® Media Player™

South San Francisco, Calif., April 24, 2002 -- Envivio, the worldwide leader of MPEG-4 Streaming and Broadcast solutions, introduces EnvivioTV™ player for Microsoft® Windows® Media Player ™. Now, Envivio provides MPEG-4 plug-ins for Apple® QuickTime™, RealNetworks® RealOne™, and Windows® Media Player™ environments, the three major streaming formats for the PC environment. In short, Envivio now can provide advanced MPEG-4 support for virtually all personal computers. Thanks to this new product, corporations, content, and service providers can transform their content to MPEG-4 and achieve the maximum audience without regard to the installed media player. A demonstration of this solution will be shown at Envivio's booth (#311) at Streaming Media West in Los Angeles April 24-26.

"For the first time MPEG-4 will fulfill its promise to be the most widespread streaming format in the PC marketplace," says Julien SIGNES, President and CTO of Envivio. "Before companies had to encode and transform their content to multiple streaming formats as well as separate broadcast formats to reach all PC and TV users. By utilizing MPEG-4, companies can now encode their content once, stream from one server and know that the end user will get the same quality presentation on virtually any PC in the world, whatever media player their users may want to use."

Combined with Envivio's live DVD resolution encoder and high capacity server products, corporations, content owners, and service providers can create and distribute content to the widest population of PC's on the market and to the wide variety of devices adopting the MPEG-4 platform today: Cell phones, set top boxes, home gateways, etc... This capability permits companies to decrease production and distribution costs because they only need to encode and stream in a single, open, standard-based format, MPEG-4. Furthermore, with its partners, Envivio provides hardware and software solutions so that the same MPEG-4 content can not only be viewed on the PC, but also on mobile and Set Top Box devices.
