Envivio and Fujitsu Siemens Computers Introduce Next Generation MPEG-4 Set Top Box at IBC
Envivio MPEG-4 Certified and Official Partnership Announced
International Broadcast Convention, September 10, 2002 -- Envivio Inc., a leading provider of end-to-end MPEG-4 broadcast and streaming solutions, and Fujitsu Siemens Computers, today announced the introduction of one of the industry’s first MPEG-4 enabled set-top box (STB).
Envivio’s MPEG-4 software will run on Fujitsu Siemens Computers Activy 200, Activy 300 and Workstation products, offering a feature rich, interoperable STB solution, enabling advanced interactive multimedia applications such as video on demand (VOD) and digital media over IP for consumer, corporate and hospitality markets.

Visual quality and bandwidth requirements are key issues within the STB sector. The power of the Envivio MPEG-4 solution allows MPEG-2 quality video and audio streaming over a 1.5Mb connection (MPEG-2 requires 4Mb minimum), significantly reducing bandwidth requirement while creating a ‘code once, run anywhere’ environment for content across mixed networks.
