Envivio Unveils Real-Time High Density MPEG-4 Encoder Product Family Based on Dual INTEL® XEON™ Processors

South San Francisco, Calif., September 12, 2002 -- Envivio Inc., a leading provider of end-to-end MPEG-4 broadcast and streaming solutions, today introduced a series of pre-configured “plug and play” MPEG-4 solutions. These solutions, which are based on dual Intel® Xeon™ processors to deliver the power of MPEG-4, are integrated software/hardware systems which utilize rackmountable systems that provide multiple video input channels. This new product offering will be showcased at the upcoming IBC exhibition in Amsterdam, Netherlands, September 13th-17th, 2002 and is available to be shipped today.

“Upon delivery, the customer simply plugs in the power, video sources and IP connection---and the system is ready to go,” said Jonathan Fram, CEO of Envivio. “The combination of Envivio’s multithreaded codec software coupled with the multiprocessor Intel Xeon systems enables the delivery of real time performance for MPEG-4 at price points not available in rack mountable units today.”

Broadcasters and companies deploying corporate communications solutions will especially benefit from this new product offering. A variety of preconfigured solutions have been developed for IPTV, distance learning, digital video archiving, surveillance, and other applications requiring the high-quality, low bandwidth offerings of MPEG-4.

“The Xeon’s performance power provides Envivio with the ability to deliver real time MPEG-4 solutions to their customers, which allow service and software providers to deliver better image quality to their customers, ” said Tom Gibbs, director of Solutions Market Development at Intel. “By multithreading their content creation and audio/video streaming solutions, Envivio takes advantage of the multi-processor nature of the Xeon.”

Typical solutions will include dual Xeon processors configured with high quality video capture cards and Envivio MPEG-4 software pre-installed. A special broadcast server solution will leverage the Xeon’s power with the powerful MPEG-4 server for managing and distributing video on demand and interactive multimedia. In addition, the Xeon dual processor provides Envivio’s customers with high-quality, multi-channel MPEG-4 encoding and delivery solutions.

Also being unveiled during IBC is Envivio’s complete suite of next generation products including Live Broadcaster, Broadcast Studio, Streaming Server, Encoding Station and EnvivioTV, which have been designed to produce, manage, stream, and playback interactive rich media based on the ISO MPEG-4 and ISMA standards. The products are powerful and full-featured, making it more intuitive and easier for customers to harness the power and benefits of MPEG-4 without investing in specialized training or resources.
