RealNetworks and Envivio to Develop Multimedia Encoder for Mobile Markets
High-Quality Multi-Format Encoding Solution to Support 3GPP, 3GPP2 and RealAudio/RealVideo Formats
Seattle, WA and San Francisco, CA, November 5, 2002 — RealNetworks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK), the global leader in Internet media delivery, and Envivio, Inc., a leading provider of end-to-end MPEG-4 broadcast and streaming solutions, announced today that the two companies will work together to develop a mobile media encoder for the wireless industry. The Helix™ Mobile Producer powered by Envivio, based on RealNetworks’ Helix platform, will provide content creators a single, high-quality encoding solution for 3GPP, 3GPP2, and RealAudio® and RealVideo® content. As part of the agreement, Envivio and RealNetworks will market and sell the co-branded product to mobile carriers and content providers worldwide. Delivery of this product is expected Q1, 2003.

Helix Mobile Producer powered by Envivio will be part of RealNetworks’ Helix product line and includes:
- Live and on-demand encoding
- Support for 3GPP and 3GPP2 file formats including MPEG-4, AAC, N-AMR, H.263 and others
- Support for RealAudio and RealVideo
- Encoding optimized for mobile devices such as frame size, bit rate, etc.
- Command line and graphical user interfaces
