Envivio and Nagravision Partner to Demonstrate First MPEG-4 ISMA-Based Content Protection Solution
Envivio to Demonstrate at Broadband Plus Show
San Francisco, CA, December 3, 2002 – Envivio, Inc., a leading provider of end-to-end MPEG-4 broadcast and streaming solutions, and Nagravision, the world’s leading independent provider of conditional access and secure digital TV solutions, announced today the first-ever Digital Rights Management (DRM) and Conditional Access solution based on Internet Streaming Media Alliance (ISMA) draft specifications. This standards-based solution will be demonstrated for the first time to network operators and telecom service providers at the Envivio booth 2925 at the Broadband Plus Show, December 4-6, in Anaheim, California.
This joint solution, which utilizes Nagravision’s conditional access security technology and Envivio’s industry leading MPEG-4 solution, allows content to be both produced and protected. The ISMA specification provides a common standard for decrypting content, thereby allowing multiple security solution companies to provide solutions that can be decrypted in the same player. Now content providers, network operators and telecom service providers worldwide can experience the benefits and interoperability inherent only in a standard, including the ability to choose from a variety of different codecs and security systems. The encrypted files can then be streamed over any standard-based MPEG-4 server. As such, network operators can now be assured that their content is protected and infrastructure investment is “future-proofed.”
“The advantage of Envivio’s standards-based solution is that we can easily plug-in DRM and Conditional Access solutions to help our customers protect and monetize access to their content,” said Julien Signes, president and CTO, Envivio. “We will be working closely with Nagravision, one of the global leaders in security solutions, to provide innovative, cost-effective, interoperable solutions for network operators and telecom service providers around the world.”
“Nagravision’s partnership with Envivio strengthens our commitment to developing MPEG-4 based solutions,” said Eric Chaubert, Vice President New Solutions at Nagravision. He added, “This can be a more cost effective and flexible way for operators to expand their service offering and subscriber base, while still ensuring high levels of content distribution security.”
