Envivio and KenCast Team to Offer Secure MPEG-4 Digital Delivery System for Military, Government, Commercial, and Enterprise Applications

Envivio to Demonstrate at NAB 2003 Conference in Las Vegas

San Francisco, CA – April 1, 2003 – Envivio, a leading provider of MPEG-4 broadcast and streaming solutions, and KenCast, Inc., a leading provider of multicast systems for satellite delivery, announced today that the two companies have entered into a partnership to provide a secure MPEG-4 distribution solution for military and government applications, as well as for the commercial and enterprise markets. As part of the solution, KenCast’s flagship product, the Fazzt® Digital Delivery System, integrates with Envivio’s MPEG-4 content creation and distribution platform to deliver large digital files reliably to many remote military stations and other government facilities at high speeds. The technology also works with commercial and enterprise applications.

Envivio will be demonstrating the MPEG-4 satellite technology at Envivio booth SL3639 at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention, April 7-10, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The joint solution between KenCast and Envivio will also be shown in KenCast’s booth N1345.

The Envivio-KenCast solution brings reliability, security, and efficiency to satellite broadcast of important multimedia content. Fazzt's innovative Forward Error Correction (Fazzt FEC®) enables reconstruction of damaged files, even after extended outages, and validation that they are identical to the files as sent. Fazzt FEC technology can also be applied on-the-fly to streams of live MPEG-4 data.

Envivio’s end-to-end MPEG-4 platform provides a complete, secure solution to create, distribute, and view time-critical content. Envivio’s encoders provide content creators with broadcast quality realtime and offline encoding using patent pending technologies. Envivio’s players are the most advanced MPEG-4 players in the world. Combined with Envivio’s server technology and KenCast’s open standards datacasting products, providers can deploy complete, interoperable secure MPEG-4 services.

“By integrating Envivio’s MPEG-4 platform with the Fazzt Digital Delivery System, the military and other markets can reliably, efficiently, and economically distribute timely data over any satellite network,” said Julien Signes, president and CTO of Envivio. “We are excited to be working with a partner that has deployed their solution to thousands of locations worldwide and who has set an industry standard for mission-critical reliability and performance.”

“We are partnering with Envivio to allow our customers to take advantage of the broad capabilities, speed, and efficiency of the MPEG-4 standard,” said William E. Steele, chairman and CEO of KenCast. “With the integration of Fazzt and the Envivio MPEG-4 platform, these customers get a secure system that saves them time and money and ensures that data arrives intact despite adverse conditions that inevitably arise.”
