Envivio Adds Texas Instruments DM642 Digital Media Processor to Real-Time H.264 Encoding Systems
Offers Broadcasters Low-Cost, Highest Performance H.264 Systems
IBC2003, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, September 12, 2003 – Envivio, Inc., a leading provider of MPEG-4 and H.264 broadcast and streaming solutions, announced today the integration of Texas Instruments (TI) high-performance TMS320DM642 digital media processor with Envivio’s real-time 4Caster™ MPEG-4/H.264 encoder to meet the live processing needs of the broadcast industry. Together, the offering will provide the broadcast industry with a real-time, full D1-resolution system that supports demanding H.264 digital TV applications.
Envivio is show casing its MPEG-4 and H.264 live solutions in stand 4.261 at IBC2003, Amsterdam RAI Centre.
The H.264 video compression standard (also known as MPEG-4 AVC) provides a significant improvement over all previous video compression standards, including MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. Envivio was instrumental in developing the H.264 standard to improve compression efficiency, and delivers H.264 throughout its product line.
The Envivio 4Caster system, which integrates TI DM642 digital media processors, is designed to meet the needs of all fixed and mobile professional video contribution and distribution applications. The Envivio 4Caster H.264 system shows a 50 to 60 percent improvement in bit rate reduction of MPEG-2 systems, making it much more cost effective to deliver broadcast-quality video over cable, satellite, and telecom networks. The 4Caster product will serve the needs of both the DVB and IP broadcast markets.
The TI DM642 digital media processor features integrated high-definition video ports, glueless Ethernet and multi-channel audio along with the industry’s highest level of performance, and flexibility through full software programmability.
