Envivio Ships 4Caster™ Broadcast 3500 Live H.264 Encoder
Offers Greatly Reduced Transmission Costs Compared to MPEG-2
San Francisco, CA – December 16, 2003 – Envivio, Inc., a leading provider of MPEG-4 broadcast
and streaming solutions, today announced it has started shipping its MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 live encoder systems to customers
worldwide. The Envivio 4Caster Broadcast 3500 encoder provides real-time MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Main Profile encoding up to 2CIF
resolution for IPTV and web streaming solutions. Full resolution SD and HDTV real-time H.264 encoders will be available soon
from Envivio.
Envivio’s 4Caster products offer bandwidth savings of over 60 percent compared to MPEG-2 systems. Broadcast operators
can cut their transmission costs by more than half overnight by switching to the H.264 format.
The 4Caster Broadcast 3500 encoder includes: a full range of video and audio interfaces; front-panel LCD control and
web-based remote management; SNMP monitoring; and pre-programmable setups. Advanced processing features include low delay
mode; motion-compensated temporal filtering and de-interlacing; error resilience; scene change detection with keyframe
(I-Frame) insertion; and frame resizing functions.
