WSJU Channel 30 Delivers Programming to Cable Network Over
T1 Line Using Envivio MPEG-4 Media Transport Solution
Envivio MPEG-4 Products Allow Broadcast-Quality Video to be Distributed Over Low-Cost IP Links
San Francisco, CA – April 15, 2004 – Envivio, Inc., a leading provider of MPEG-4 broadcast and streaming solutions, today announced the deployment of MPEG-4 live video distribution over a single T1 line in Puerto Rico. San Juan based WSJU Channel 30, owned by Aerco Broadcasting, uses the Envivio 4Caster™ 3500 real-time MPEG-4 encoder and the Envivio 4View 4010 MPEG-4 decoder to transmit live video and audio to a local cable TV network.
Envivio is showcasing the 4Caster and 4View MPEG-4/H.264 product line, along with its other MPEG-4 broadcast and streaming solutions, at the NAB 2004 conference and exhibition, Las Vegas, April 19-22, in Booth SL 5842.
WSJU is the first broadcaster in Puerto Rico to deploy MPEG-4 technology for live video contribution over T1 lines. With IP transmission over T1 lines, live content is encoded at below 1.5 Mbps, which is less than half of the bandwidth required by conventional MPEG-2 encoding formats.

"The use of a T1 line allows us to extend the reach of our network cost effectively and reach more subscribers. We now reach over 140,000 Adelphia Cable TV subscribers."

With the new deployment, WSJU transmits the content over a T1 line to the local cable TV company, Adelphia, which provides service to subscribers in Bayamon, Catano, Carolina, Guaynabo, San Juan, Toa Alta, Toa Baja, and Trujillo Alto. Programming consists of a variety of news, sports, life styles, children, music, and other traditional programs.
