Envivio Announces 4Front™ MPEG-4 IPTV Middleware Video Services Portal for Set-Top Boxes and PCs

San Francisco, CA, April 16, 2004 – Envivio, Inc., a leading provider of
MPEG-4 and H.264 broadcast and streaming solutions, today announced its 4Front™ MPEG-4 IPTV middleware offering for network operators. The 4Front service management platform allows network operators to integrate Envivio MPEG-4 technology into a commercial television broadcast business.
The 4Front middleware creates a client user interface and fills it with metadata and business rules defined by the network operator. With 4Front, content, and set-top boxes, the network operator can offer to its subscribers a complete set of digital TV services.
4Front offers a customizable electronic programming guide (EPG) for live content services; customizable video-on-demand (VOD) portal where users can browse and rent media; subscriber management; service management; conditional access; and customizable business rules and pricing elements.

4Front consists of a 4Front middleware server that works in conjunction with Envivio 4Caster™ real-time MPEG-4/H.264 encoder or 4Sight™ MPEG-4/H.264 streaming server, and a billing system. The client consists of an Envivio 4View™ MPEG-4/H.264 set-top box and respective 4Front portal or EnvivioTV™ PC plug-in and respective 4Front portal. The client GUI customizable templates can be modified using Envivio 4Mation™ MPEG-4 authoring software.
4Front is used as part of the IPlay3™ consortium’s integrated Triple Play solution, which merges market-leading technologies from Envivio, NetCentrex, and Highdeal into one flexible and cost-effective system for IP-TV, IP-VOD, Voice over IP, and billing.
All components of the 4Front middleware solution and the complete IPlay3 Triple Play solution will be showcased for the duration of the NAB 2004 conference and exhibition at Envivio booth SL 5842.
