Envivio Releases Enhanced 4Forum v3 Webcasting Solution for Enterprise, Education, and Government Environments

Also Ships 4Forum Lite MPEG-4 Portable Webcasting Appliance

Atlanta, GA, June 9, 2004 – Envivio, Inc., a leading provider of MPEG-4 and H.264 broadcast and streaming solutions, today announced a major release of its 4Forum™ MPEG-4 webcasting solution, which adds enhanced features not available with other webcasting systems.

The 4Forum solution uses the MPEG-4 Systems Specification to deliver live and non real-time interactive and perfectly synchronized webcasts with a sub-second latency and the ability to scale delivery to thousands of viewers. It is controlled through a web-based interface to easily customize presentations, start and stop the webcasts, create post edits, and manage presentations for later on-demand delivery from an Envivio 4Sight™ MPEG-4 video streaming server.

4Forum v3 adds improved usability; automatic viewer portal to access live and on-demand presentations; new interactive templates; Trick Play features for fast forward, rewind, and enhanced interactivity; integration with Cisco’s ACNS; web-based encoding presets for management functions such as bit rates and resolutions; and improved remote web-based post-editing functions. 4Forum v3 has also been localized for Japan, China, and Korea.

“No other webcasting system today has the feature-set offered by the Envivio 4Forum v3 MPEG-4 solution,” said Guillaume Cohen, director of Enterprise Product Marketing at Envivio. “Trick Play interactivity alone raises 4Forum to the same level as the PVR and gives users more flexibility than any other webcasting system when viewing presentations. And since 4Forum uses MPEG-4 technology, it overcomes the usual limitations of synchronization, scalability, latency, and reliability found in hybrid technologies that use HTML, JavaScript, and proprietary encoding.”

Envivio also announced that it has started shipping its 4Forum Lite portable MPEG-4 webcasting system, which it introduced at NAB 2004 in April. 4Forum Lite is a small, lightweight, portable, quiet ‘plug & play’ appliance that instantaneously enables a conference room to broadcast live and on-demand MPEG-4 presentations with synchronized video and presenter’s PC screen capture over IP networks.

“4Forum Lite brings to every conference room and classroom a powerful MPEG-4 webcasting capability condensed in a compact and portable appliance,” said Cohen. “It complements the 4Forum family with an affordable solution for low-budget deployments with small numbers of viewers, without compromising versatility and the ability to expand later to a global scale with thousands of viewers.”

The 4Forum suite of webcasting products will be shown for the duration of the InfoComm 2004 exhibition, Atlanta, GA, at Envivio booth 3560.
