Envivio Unveils New Mobile and HD MPEG-4 Encoding Systems at NAB2005

4Caster™ Mobile and 4Coder™ HD Systems Shipping Now

South San Francisco, CA, April 12, 2005 – Envivio Inc., a leading technology provider of MPEG-4 (including AVC / H.264) systems, is introducing two new series of MPEG-4 encoding systems for mobile and HD applications. The 4Caster™ Mobile and the 4Coder™ HD product families are designed to power high quality video services at the lowest possible bit rates. The systems will be debuting at NAB2005 in the Envivio booth #SL 3310 and are available today.

4Caster™ Mobile series is a product family of real-time MPEG-4 encoders that optimally distribute audio and video to mobile phone and mobile television subscribers. The encoding systems are compliant with international mobile delivery standards including 3GPP, DVB-H and ISDB-T. Optimized processing produces very low bit rate content making this series ideal for mobile operators wanting to enrich their services beyond voice to offer digital television and on-demand video, and for broadcasters wanting to repurpose content to address these new markets. 4Caster systems were selected for the world's first satellite digital multimedia broadcasting service for mobile devices by the Mobile Broadcasting Corporation (mbco) for its MobaHO!® service in Japan.

4Coder™ Broadcast series is a product family of offline MPEG-4 encoders for either Standard Definition (SD) or High Definition (HD) programming. The systems feature dual-pass encoding with preview and batch modes, MPEG-4 HE AAC audio, and an optimized codec for multiprocessor platforms. The 4Coder series incorporates pre-processing and pre-filtering to deliver the highest audio and video quality at the lowest possible bit rate. This series is ideal for broadcast and production facilities, network service providers and professional media archivists who want to maximize their storage servers and optimize throughput over their distribution networks while expanding their service offerings.

Envivio systems allow broadcasters and service operators to reduce their operational costs by making their existing infrastructure more efficient. Key features of Envivio encoders include store and forward, IP networking, and the ability to deliver interactive multimedia presentations. Envivio encoders include sophisticated system management such as monitoring, management privileges, and redundancy features. The advanced implementation by Envivio systems of the AVC/H.264 video compression algorithms may allow broadcasters to deliver optimal video quality at bit rates twice as low as existing compression technologies.
