Envivio to Showcase HD and SD MPEG-4 Encoding Systems for Mobile, Enterprise, IPTV and Broadcast at IBC2005
South San Francisco, CA – September 6, 2005 – Envivio Inc. will be demonstrating encoding systems for broadcast, mobile, IPTV, and enterprise applications at IBC2005 in its Stand #1.351. The company will also unveil two new systems, a fourth generation SD encoder and a real time HD encoder for broadcast contribution and distribution applications.

Standard Definition (SD) Broadcast - Introducing the new 4Caster™ B3 SD Encoder
At IBC, Envivio will be introducing a new 4Caster Broadcast Series encoder. The real-time MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 standard definition encoder is ideal for broadcast contribution and distribution applications. The 4Caster B3 applies the most comprehensive implementation of the AVC/H.264 toolset to be implemented in a hardware encoder. The system offers significant reductions in bit rate to deliver industry leading broadcast quality video at full resolution and frame rate.
Real Time High Definition (HD) Broadcast - Introducing the new 4Caster HD3 HD Encoder
A real time high definition encoder will be introduced at IBC by Envivio. A member of the Broadcast Series, the 4Caster HD3 encoder builds on Envivio's previous expertise in developing high picture quality HD offline encoding systems. The HD3 is a dedicated HD system designed specifically for AVC/H.264 encoding and supports a comprehensive range of encapsulation and streaming formats. Its high picture quality for bit rates below 10 Mbps is a must see at the exposition.
Mobile - Video Encoding Systems Optimized for Mobile Broadcast Services
In both its stand and the IBC2005 Mobile Zone, Envivio will demonstrate how optimized processing produces very low bit rate content that's ideal for mobile operators wanting to enrich their services beyond voice to offer digital television and on-demand video, and for broadcasters wanting to repurpose content to address these new markets. Demonstrations feature the 4Caster M2, part of the Mobile Series product family of real time MPEG-4 encoders that optimally distributes audio and video to mobile phone and mobile television subscribers. The encoding systems are compliant with international mobile delivery standards including 3GPP, DVB-H and ISDB-T.
IPTV - Complete Triple Play System for AVC/H.264 Television with Interactive MPEG-4 Middleware Portal
The open standards-based Envivio encoders, middleware and decoders combine to power IP applications for live television, video-on-demand (VOD) and voice services. Integrated triple play Envivio solutions optimize network bandwidth while providing high quality interactive services. Envivio is an active member of the IPlay3 consortium that merges the market-leading technologies from Envivio, NetCentrex, and Highdeal into flexible and cost-effective Triple-Play solutions. This demonstration features an AVC/H.264 residential set-top box with a MPEG-4 BIFS (Binary Format for Scenes) player and an integrated VoIP telephone client portal. Enterprise - Interactive Television Delivering Broadcast Quality Video Services over IP to the Desktop
Featuring Envivio 4Caster 3500, this demonstration delivers broadcast quality video services within a private IP network. A combination of Envivio encoders, video servers and navigation software create the on-screen guide. The intuitive on-screen guide is delivered to viewers as part of the stream using MPEG-4 BIFS features. The guide allows viewers to browse available selections, change channels and view live and on-demand programs from television, PC or Mac systems.
Enterprise - Communication over IP Networks Driven by an Interactive Rich Media System
To demonstrate how MPEG-4 technology can be used for a variety of enterprise applications, Envivio is showcasing key features of its newly enhanced Mindshare™ Presentation system. With the Mindshare system, the output of any VGA device such as Macs, PCs, electronic whiteboards, document cameras or medical imaging devices can be broadcast along with the video signal of either a live presenter or a pre-recorded video file. Viewers receive the information in a single synchronized high-quality, low bit rate MPEG-4 file and can view the presentation from a PC, Mac, or even from a large plasma screen. Behind the scenes, the system simultaneously records the entire presentation as one interactive file to create an immediate archive for playback and distribution.
