Secure Encoding for Mobile TV
As more and more video is distributed via mobile TV, content security is becoming an important factor for operators and content providers deploying a mobile video headend. In response to this growing demand, Envivio has implemented ISMACryp as an option for the 4Caster™ M2 encoder for mobile TV. ISMACryp is the industry standard content protection system and part of both the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) BCAST specification and the DVB-H standard.

YouTube goes H.264, Thanks to Apple
From the web to TV, Apple TV has made it possible to view your favorite videos on demand through the YouTube channel. YouTube on the other hand is accelerating this penetration into non-web platforms by converting the backlog of Flash videos into H.264 streaming-efficient compression format, a format preferred by Apple TV.
VOD a ‘Must Have’ as Ovum Predicts Half Telco Costs will Be Content and Marketing Related
According to Ovum, Video on Demand (VOD) revenues will reach $12.7 billion worldwide in 2011, even though it is not a current revenue generator. This growth has been attributed to the great competition that telcos are facing, which will force revenues through careful content strategy and local VOD propositions by telcos.
Mobile TV Awareness, Then Adoption
The extensive penetration of 3G is bound to increase the mobile video subscriber base worldwide to about 120 million by 2011, according to eMarketer. This rise is predicted to be greater than the growth of mobile TV subscribers as the mass adoption of mobile TV is hampered by lack of consumer education, technological fragmentation and content adaptation.

Solutions are being developed by the hardware vendors in the gaming console, media adapter, and set-top box space that will enable delivery of video content from the public Internet directly to the television.
